Black ink on black stained plywood symbolizes these women’s invisibility and unacknowledged stories. Extra fine black glitter brings attention to the portraits while highlighting their previously unknown yet important contributions. The overall size of the plywood panels is smaller than the paper portraits, yet the dimensions of each woman’s image is the same; the difference lies in the cropping. The crop focuses the eye upon their faces. Additionally, the thickness of the plywood and method of mounting allows the  portraits to hover off the wall.
