Expanding upon Veronica Jackson’s original BLACKTIVISTS series, this version depicts the twelve portraits in silver ink on white paper to elevate each woman’s visibility, rendering each portrait more legible than their counterpart in black. In white, these women’s visages are apparent, evident, and clear. One does not have to search to “see” their likeness.

These prints were created by silk-screening silver ink on white paper and then sifting a layer of silver holographic glitter upon the surface. In white, this technique symbolizes visibility, acknowledgment, and the value that comes with being seen. More than the reflectivity depicted with black glitter, the holographic glitter hints at a dimensionality that brings each portrait slightly off the page and into a physical realm.
