In this iteration of A Constellation of Blackness…, Jackson once again uses felt-lined bulletin boards to telegraph actual and subliminal messages. Speaking more to triumph than invisibility, the three phrases independently express missives of discovery, confidence, and an unapologetic Blackness. Collectively the white letters assembled across the three panels deliver a quip that derides a racist system’s limited and useless ideals:
A SOCIETY FOOLISH ENOUGH TO THINK I WILL APOLOGIZE FOR MY OTHERNESS.
